Atlas Hydro S
THE ATLAS HYDRO S SERIES
Portal milling machines for the railway sector
We design vertical milling machines specifically dedicated to machining railway and tramway components, such as rails, switches, and frogs made of highly alloyed materials.
These machines are developed to ensure maximum productivity and constant reliability, precisely meeting the needs of the sector.

Key features of Atlas Hydro S
Hydrostatic X axis for the support of the portal or the working table
Available in double RAM configuration for simultaneous machining operations
The Y and Z axes with preloaded roller pads and anti-friction materials for maximum precision and effective vibration reduction
Dual working-zone or dual-table configuration enabling pendulum machining operations.
Dedicated Clamping systems with mechanical, hydromechanical, or magnetic devices
Optimal chip containment thanks to the option of full enclosure
Modular configuration
Based on our Flexible Design Concept (FDC), the Atlas Hydro S series offers modular configurations, adapting to different operational needs while keeping the core components of the machine unchanged. The available configurations include:
Fixed portal milling machine with moving table (P)
Atlas Hydro SP (Planomiller) consists of two fixed columns, anchored directly to the foundation with leveling and fastening jacks to ensure absolute stability. The single or double moving table configuration (X-axis) provides the longitudinal motion of the machine.
- The high torque and power Ram head with integrated C-axis allows the use of different types of heads
- Optimal configuration for machining manganese steel frogs
- Can be equipped with robotic tool change systems for maximum automation

Moving portal milling machine (G)
Atlas Hydro SG (Gantry) is a moving-gantry machine with a fixed crossrail, traveling longitudinally along a series of beds on preloaded hydrostatic guideways. The beds are rigidly anchored to the foundations using leveling jacks and tie rods.
- Ram head with integrated tilting spindle (A-axis) for machining switches and tongues
- Optimal configuration for machining long parts up to 25 m
- Can be equipped with robotic tool change systems for maximum automation
